Project Overview
Perspective is a conceptual print design project in which I was tasked with choosing a design modality that fits within my personal design style and using that practice framework to inspire the development of a posterzine, and tipping card addressing the emerging direction of my own design practice.
For my modality, I selected complex systems. This modality explains how the purpose behind design is to be adaptable because design is made for humans and humans are complicated creatures who are unpredictable in nature. Therefore, the behavior of this system cannot be predicted by examining individual components. Rather, it demands a holistic view.My visual solution takes this concept of a “holistic view” in a very literal sense.
Much like how one must see a cube from multiple perspectives to understand that it is a cube, my project explains how we must see other humans from multiple perspectives in order to say that we truly understand who they are.
Why
P.O.V.?
This project was inspired by childhood interactions with my twin brother. Although growing up in a similar environment helped us individually develop a similar outlook on life, there are still many things that we differ on in terms of perspective. Living this example of nature versus nurture taught me firsthand about how the human psyche forms and further, how this perspective influences chosen behavior.

Final Thoughts
Inspired by the trippy colors, fluid net-like shapes, and almost overwhelming textures of the 1980s New Wave design movement, this project serves as a basis of my personal and design communication philosophy.
